Privacy notice
Last updated 26 October 2026
In short
- Accounts are for parents, carers and teachers (18+). Children never type an email or password; they just tap their name.
- We keep only what is needed to run the site and show you your children’s progress: no adverts, no tracking or advertising cookies, no selling or sharing of data for marketing.
- You can delete a child, or your whole account and everything in it, at any time from the Grown-ups’ area.
Who we are
Pompom Kids is an independent online service. For any privacy question or request, email [email protected]. (Sign-in emails come from [email protected], an unmonitored inbox, so please don’t reply to those.)
What we collect and why
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Your email address | To sign you in with a one-time code and to send essential account and billing messages |
| If you use Google or Apple: their account identifier and your verified email | To sign you in with that account |
| Each child’s first name (or nickname), year group, phonics level and colour | To pitch the games at the right level |
| Game activity: which game, stars, how far they got, time spent, and when | To show you progress and keep practice varied |
| Your plan, and subscription status from our payment provider | To unlock members’ games |
| When your account was last active | To run and improve the service, and to look after your account |
| Each time you sign in or open the site (at most once an hour): the time, your IP address, the country it comes from, and your browser and device type | To keep accounts secure (for example spotting a sign-in from somewhere unexpected) and to help fix problems on particular devices. Only the grown-up who runs Pompom Kids can see it |
| Messages you send us through Help & feedback, with the page you were on and your browser type | To answer you and improve Pompom Kids |
We do not ask for children’s surnames, photos, voice, birthdays, locations or contact details (the country above is worked out from the grown-up’s connection, never asked for), and there is no chat or sharing between users.
Children
Pompom Kids is designed for children but accounts are opened and controlled by adults. A parent or carer decides what child profiles to create and can review or delete them at any time. We follow the principles of children’s privacy laws such as the US COPPA, the EU and UK GDPR and the UK Age Appropriate Design Code: minimal data, high privacy by default, no behavioural advertising and no nudges towards purchases for children (upgrades are only shown to adults, behind a grown-up check).
Cookies and storage
One essential cookie keeps you signed in. Settings and progress are also kept in your browser’s local storage so the site works with a weak connection. There are no advertising or analytics cookies.
Who helps us run it
- Contabo (servers in Germany) hosts the website and database.
- Cloudflare delivers the site securely and quickly worldwide.
- Resend sends sign-in code emails.
- Lemon Squeezy, our reseller and merchant of record, processes payments; we never receive your card details.
- Google and Apple, only if you choose to sign in with them.
Each processes data only to provide its service. Some of them may process data outside your country; they use recognised safeguards for international transfers.
How long we keep it
Game activity and the sign-in log are kept for up to a year. Everything else is kept until you delete a child or your account. Deleting removes it from our database straight away and from our backups (kept on the same server, readable only by administrators) within 14 days. Payment records are kept by Lemon Squeezy as tax law requires.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask to see, correct, download or delete your data and your children’s data, or object to how we use it. Most of this you can do yourself in the Grown-ups’ area; for anything else email [email protected] and we will reply within 30 days. You may also complain to your local data protection authority (for example in the EU, the UK, or Indonesia under the Personal Data Protection Law).
Changes
If we change this notice in an important way, we will tell account holders by email before the change takes effect.
